Shakib Al Hasan fight: The senior Bangladeshi all-rounder lost his temper in a domestic match against Abahani Limited.
During the 40th match of the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited in Dhaka, Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Shakib Al Hasan put on display an unacceptable behaviour for a player of his stature.
Fuming after umpire Imran Parvez’s decision didn’t go his way, Shakib was seen kicking and uprooting stumps on two different occasions to express resentment.
While the first incident came off his own bowling when the umpire ruled an lbw appeal in Abahani Limited captain Mushfiqur Rahim’s favour, the second one saw Shakib walking towards the umpire from inside the circle only to uproot all the three stumps and getting involved in an animated discussion with the umpire.
For a former Bangladeshi captain and arguably their greatest-ever cricketer, such actions of expressing displeasure don’t speak of highly of Shakib’s attitude in domestic matches which are not only played alongside rookie Bangladeshi players but also watched by plentiful fans in the country.
As far as the mnatch is concerned, Shakib top-scored for his team after wining the toss and electing to bat first. Him scoring 37 (27) with the help of a four and two sixes playing a vital role in Mohammedan scoring 145/6 in 20 overs. On the back of Shuvagata Hom’s bowling figures of 3-0-17-3, Mohammedan registered a 31-run victory (D/L Method)
